Happy Monday!
Today’s a special day: it’s the TENTH anniversary of Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones! Who knew back then that in ten years, City of Bones would have gone on to spawn a movie, a television series, and multiple book series with over 50 MILLION copies in print worldwide! Congratulations, Cassandra Clare! So in honor of this auspicious day, we’re delighted to feature City of Bones as a featured free read once again!
Of course, we’ve got a few other reads for you this week as well! We have a full read of Emma Harrison’s Escaping Perfect, in which Cecelia Montgomery, the daughter of a high-profile political figure, runs away from her constricting past to live the normal life she’s always dreamed of. Finding What’s Real, the sequel to Escaping Perfect, goes on sale this week (3/28)….and we’ve got an extended excerpt of that for you as well! See what happens when Cecelia Montgomery returns after running away to deal with the downside of her newfound fame—and her mother’s Presidential campaign.
We’ve also got a full read of The Forsaken, the first book in Lisa M. Stasse’s The Forsaken Trilogy about a dystopian future world where sixteen-year-olds are often imprisoned proactively based on a standardized test to gauge their capacity for violence. EntertainmentWeekly.com called this fascinating read “a fast-paced novel [that] you’ll get sucked into. You just can’t seem to put [it] down.” If you missed this series five years ago when it was first published, now is a great time to discover it!
And as always, we still have last week’s reads available for a few more days! We’re keeping Emma Chastain’s YA-novel-in-the-spirit-of-Bridget-Jones’s-Diary Confessions of a High School Disaster available for one more bonus week so definitely check it out if you haven’t yet! We’ve also got two from Tom Leveen: an extended excerpt of his latest YA, the creepy and suspenseful adventure, Hellworld, and a full read of his tense and gripping exploration of cyberbullying and teen suicide, Random. We’ve also got an extended excerpt of Belle, Cameron Dokey’s retelling of the tale of the Beauty and the Beast, and we’ve got a full read of The Storyspinner, the first book in Becky Wallace’s fantasy series, The Keepers’ Chronicles.
