The holidays have passed but winter is still here. Even though the groundhog hasn’t seen her shadow yet, we will most likely have six more weeks of winter. So if the cold has you day dreaming of warmer weather, then I have some book recs for you!
Summery Reads to Keep You Warm this Winter
1. Watch Over Me by Mila Gray
This amazing summer romance from Mila Gray will warm your heart! The combination of a VERY attractive Marine and the setting of sunny California is the perfect remedy for this dreary winter.
2. The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler
Inspired by the Little Mermaid, this book tells the story of a talented singer who loses her ability to speak after a tragic accident, leading her to a postcard-perfect seaside town to find romance. Also there’s a Pirate Regatta. Do I need to say anything else? BRB as I buy an ocean-scented candle and pretend it’s already summer !
3. Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian
Ok. I’m a strong believer in eating ice cream all year round. So grab yourself a pint and pick up this book. This adorable story of a girl trying to save the Ice Cream shop she works in will help you forget that we probably still have six more weeks of winter.
4. Boyfriend Summer by Michelle Dalton
This book has two summer romances in one! Looks like I need to cancel my weekend plans, grab my beach hat, pretend it’s summer and forget the cold.
5. Start Here by Trish Doller
After reading this book, I immediately googled where I could learn how to sail. Two friends sail all the way down the east coast as they deal with the death of their best friend. This touching book will definitely make you want to travel as well as call your best friend.
5. Aristotle & Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz
Ari and Dante meet at a pool in the summer and form an unlikely friendship, the rest is history. It is through their friendship that Ari and Dante will learn the most important truths about themselves–and about the kind of people they want to be.
7. Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch
I will say my previous statement again. Ice cream (or in this case, gelato) is the perfect year-round treat. Add in a summer trip to Tuscany and cute Italian boy, I guarantee you’ll forget it’s freezing outside.
8. Run Away With Me by Mila Gray
Confession time: This book made me want to go camping… And Kayaking… And move to Washington state. Mila Gray crushed it with this amazing romance of ex-childhood best friends that meet years later. I didn’t put this book down until I finished it, and for those hours that I was reading, I was whisked away to sunny Bainbridge Island.
9. Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Once more for the people in the back: Ice cream is the best year-round treat! Also if you love scavenger hunts, amazing best friends, and summers of self-discovery, then this is the perfect book for you!
10. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han
Just like Belly, who dreams of summer, I also dream of warmer months and running off to an island. Every year she spends her summers at the beach house with brothers Conrad and Jeremiah. They’ve never noticed her as more than anything but a friend, but this summer is different and things get…complicated.
