If you’re like me, you’ve been singing “Toss a coin to your Witcher” in your head since you binged the first season of The Witcher on Netflix, and you’ve been counting down the days until season 2. But what to do now that season 2 is out and you’ve already watched the whole thing? Fear not! I made a list of books to read that will fill the void in your heart left behind by this epic fantasy show. So, without further ado, let’s begin!

The Best Books to Read After Binging The Witcher

1. Cursed by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Miller

Similar to Geralt, Nimue is a bit of an outcast but that’s not the only thing Cursed and The Witcher have in common. This book is filled with epic battles, magic, fighting religious zealots, and fierce female characters. Plus Cursed is also becoming a Netflix show, so be prepared to binge that too!

2. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

I think it’s safe to say that Nathaniel and Silas’ relationship might be able to rival the beautiful friendship between Geralt and Jaskier. Too bad Silas isn’t a bard, but I’d say demons are just as good. This story of magic, romance, and epic adventure is the perfect read for any Witcher fan.

3. Scythe by Neal Shusterman

One of the core attributes of a Witcher is that they remain neutral in political scuffles but if you’ve seen the show, sometimes that can be difficult for Geralt. This is similar to the Scythes who technically should show no prejudice as they do their duty to keep the population under control. But if you’ve read this series, you might discover that Scythes, like Geralt, struggle with that as well.

4. Crown of Feathers by Nicki Pau Preto

Legacy is really important to Yennefer and many of her actions are a result of her trying to figure out what her legacy will be. Her sorcery powers are unmatched and she has quite a few issues with having to be subordinate to nobility. Which is why if you love Yennefer, you should read Crown of Feathers, in which you will meet Val, who will fill the space in your heart left by Yennefer until season two comes out.

5. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Clary, in many ways, is just like Ciri. Both of them have untapped power that they are just beginning to understand and both are trying to avoid capture by evil men. Plus the Shadowhunters books are filled with immortals, magic, and even fae, so City of Bones is definitely a must-read if you loved The Witcher.

6. Alanna by Tamora Pierce

Alanna by Tamora Pierce

Queen Calanthe and Alanna are basically twin souls. I mean, just look at their nicknames “The Lioness of Cintra” and “The Lioness of Tortall”. I always love a good story with female knights and Alanna has been one of my favorites for years. So if Calanthe was your favorite character, definitely read this book ASAP.
