The entire crew in the final installment of the Mortal Instruments Series emulate Aries vibes. All are determined and courageous in their mission to defeat Sebastian (who actually is an Aries!) in this momentous finale. I mean, Jace is literally on fire half the time, and his romance with leading lady Clary has always been one of the most passionate romances of the Shadowhunters universe.
In Clockwork Angel, we meet Jem Carstairs, a beloved Shadowhunter character who displays all the traits of a Taurus. Jem is known for his kindness, loyalty, and patience (one needs a lot of patience to be parabatai with Will Herondale, after all). Don’t think Jem is a doormat, though, he is also surprisingly stubborn at time in the series, displaying another notable Taurus trait.
Grace Blackthorn has been one of the great mysteries of The Last Hours series and in the epic conclusion, we finally get to see what makes her tick. To be honest, she’s been a character we’ve loved to hate but there’s more to her than meets the eye.
Cancers are emotional, compassionate, and protective people, and Tessa Gray in the Clockwork Princess gives major cancer vibes. Tessa is super compassionate and will do anything to protect the people she loves. Her love triangle (AKA the best love triangle of all time) with Will and Jem is so cancer-coded it’s crazy. As a cancer myself, I was SOBBING during that Epilogue. If you know, you know.
Even though we got to see Matthew Fairchild in some of the short stories, we didn’t truly get to know James Herondale’s parabatai until the second book in The Last Hours series. What can we say? Matthew was worth the wait. Dramatic, confident, fun… a snappy dresser… Mathew is the total package.
Virgos are known to be organized, patient, and practical, and we see many of these traits in the characters of the first book of the Dark Artifices series. From Emma’s methodical murder board and her patient, yet determined search for her parents’ killers to Ty’s practical nature and attention to detail, to Julien’s patience as he singlehandedly raises his younger siblings, all the Shadowhunters in Lady Midnight give major Virgo vibes.
So much happens in City of Glass that give Libra vibes. Clary and Jace’s forbidden romance finally comes to a head. Clary’s special rune drawing abilities make or break the climax of this book. So many different people and characters must be persuaded to work together to save the Shadowhunter world as they know it.
I don’t think there’s a more mysterious Shadowhunters book than City of Lost Souls. After Jace’s disappearance at the end of City of Fallen Angels, we see him joined with Sebastian, of all evil people. Clary is also very resourceful when she bravely decides to join Jace and Sebastian as they galivant on mysterious, evil business. This books from start to end definitely screams Scorpio.
Sagittarius are known to be strong-willed, and who is more stubborn than a Herondale, specifically Will Herondale? Adventure is Will’s middle name. Granted, he has a death wish, but still he knows how to bring the excitement and let’s face it, no one is going to tell Will Herondale what to do… except maybe Tessa.
Chain of Gold has so much Capricorn energy. Set in the traditional Edwardian London, the large cast of characters are set up against both massive and internal evil forces. We see Capricorns’ classic trait of ambition in many areas: in Grace’s nefarious plans, in Charles’ goal of governmental power, and in Cordelia’s desperation to be a hero and save her family’s reputation.
Aquariuses are known to be eccentric, individualistic, and cool, so I had to ask myself…who is the coolest character in the Shadowhunters books? The answer came to me immediately – Magnus Bane, of course. The Red Scrolls of Magic shows Magnus’s eccentricities perfectly as he and Alec fight stop the Crimson Hand, an elusive and dangerous cult started by…Magnus, himself. Years ago, as a joke.
The City of Bones is definitively Pisces coded. We get introduced to Clary Fray, a young artist, who is thrown into the Shadowhunters world we all know and love. Clary is the perfect protagonist as she fights to find her mother, who is kidnapped in the beginning of the book. Clary is creative and learns to have faith in the people who care for her in this book that started it all!
