All bookworms love libraries. I always swoon during the scene in Beauty and the Beast when Belle walks into the library for the first time. What could be better than a beautifully-designed quiet room full of rows and rows of books? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read about a library in a book and googled it to see if it were real. Here are a few of the fictional libraries we really wish were real and once you read about them, you will, too!

Fictional Libraries We Wish Were Real

1. The Great Library – Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

What I wouldn’t give to be an apprentice in the Great Library. Imagine the possibilities of not only being surrounded by books, which, let’s be honest, is already a win, but of being surrounded by MAGIC books. MAGIC. BOOKS!!!!

2. St. Rosetta’s Library – Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon

Any boarding school library is bound to be an amazing one. In this Beauty and the Beast retelling, you know that school just has to have an insanely lush library. Goodbye study room, hello table in the Young Adult section!

3. The Library at the Institute – City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Each Institute is so unique, and each one has an incredible library full of Shadowhunter texts. I’d spend days reading everything I could in those libraries if they existed in real life. If I had time to spare, I might even explore the rest of the Institute, too!

4. The Watcher Library – Slayer by Kiersten White

The Watcher Library, similar to the Institute libraries, must be a gold mine for Watcher texts and magical reads to explore. Plus, you’d get to hang out in the Watcher castle, hanging out with all the healers and slayers!

5. The Library of Alexandria – The Toll by Neal Shusterman

Okay, so technically this one isn’t fictional, but we’d say it still counts. If only they’d rebuild and preserve this library in real life! We don’t need a Scythedom to make it happen…right? Either way, Alexandria is full of mystery and intrigue, and a chance to see a recreation of this grand library is something any book lover would jump at.

6. The Underground Libraries – Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody

Okay, try and tell me you wouldn’t want to visit the only surviving library on a faraway planet. THAT WOULD BE LIFE CHANGING. Not only is it the last one, it’s hidden in an underground refuge and guarded by a secret society of sorts. Sign me up!!!

I know what you’re thinking. “What does she mean AREN’T? As in ARE-NOT? What a psycho…” But you’re wrong. Love triangles, while they are often incredibly frustrating and keep the protagonist from being with who we, as the reader, deem to be the right person for them, are not always the worst. And let’s be honest, we all relish in the drama of a good love triangle. Here are a few great examples of times love triangles weren’t the worst.

Why Love Triangles Aren’t the Worst

1. Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell

If you’re a fan of Les Miserablés, then you’ll be fan of this out-of-this-world love triangle. Sorry, couldn’t resist the pun. When revolution brings you together, the love triangle is bound to be saucy. This revolution brings together three people from very different backgrounds, and the similarities and differences between them blend into a tense romantic situation that you’ll keep turning the pages for.

2.To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Really, this is more of a love six-pointed-star (right?), but let’s just focus on the triangle that started it all. Stating the obvious: Peter K is perfect. He’s the obvious choice, not only because of how well he and Lara Jean fit together, but because of Josh’s history with Lara Jean’s sister Margot. Before you try and argue that I’m not helping my case though, let’s remember how hard it was for Lara Jean when Josh and Margot started dating. She missed her best friend more than anything. This love triangle, while not super healthy and not convincing you to root for both men either, brings Lara Jean a fabulous relationship, and mends her friendship with Josh. It’s a win-win!

Also, just wait until you meet John Ambrose McClaren in P.S. I Still Love You! You’ll be asking yourself why Lara Jean has to choose at all and if she can just have both Peter K and John Ambrose?

3. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare

This is the greatest love triangle of all time (imo). It’s one of few in which both guys are just so…you know? It is agonizing to read through the process of both men falling in love with Tessa, and Tessa falling in love with both men. Every time you think you’ve picked Will, Jem does something perfect, and vice versa. There is no good answer for who should win out—until there is. You can’t tell me you’d be against a love triangle where you’re rooting for both men, and both men still get the girl. That’s romantic gold.

4. The Alanna Quartet by Tamora Pierce

Alanna by Tamora Pierce

I have always adored the love triangle from the Lioness quartet and every book I found myself rooting for a different boy. When Alanna is eleven, she disguises herself as a boy in order to train to become a knight. She quickly becomes friends with the the Crowned Prince of the Realm as well as with the King of Thieves. But as she grows older and becomes a young woman, both men discover her secret identity and those friendships turn into something more. The best part about this love triangle is that both men love Alanna because she’s such a strong woman, the best knight they’ve ever met, and more than anything respect her and her choices.

5. What I Like About You by Marisa Kanter

Ok, I’ll admit this one is cheating a bit because it’s not entirely a love triangle, even though it definitely feels like one! Kels is very popular online book blogger, she also happens to be in love with Nash, a boy she met through the online book community. But Kels has a secret: she’s actually Halle, quiet and awkward and nothing like outgoing Kels. So when Halle moves to a new town and meets Nash in real life, things get complicated when she finds out he’s in love with Kels. Even though this love triangle is TECHNICALLY made up of only two people it has all the characteristics of what makes a love triangle so great.

One thing I like almost as much a love triangles, is the classic enemies-to-lovers story and these are some of the best!

The definition of emo music is as follows: a rock music genre characterized by an emphasis on emotional expression, sometimes through confessional lyrics. Let’s be real—we all went through an emo band phase in the early/mid-2000’s. Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, Blink 182—they all seemed to be able to express what was going on in our hearts and behind our goopy eyeliner.

To find out which YA book you should read by a rain-flecked window next, pick your favorite emo band and let them tell you.

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

We’ll never forget the movie that made all of us want to grow up to be a relatable teenager who goes to Italy and has her life changed forever. With the upcoming release of the latest live-action remake from my childhood, I can’t for the life of me get the songs out of my head. This list contains some of the best songs from the many lion king soundtracks—including movies 1 and 2, and the Broadway show! But how will any of these songs pair with books, you ask? Read on to find out!

Your Favorite Lion King Song Will Tell You What To Read Next

1. “The Circle of Life” – Start Here by Trish Doller

This read is full of adventure, emotion, and self-discovery. With two main characters who are dealing with the loss of their friend, the girls set sail on a long journey from Ohio to the Keys, upon which they discover the answers to many things, including how to move on after living through a tragedy. Just like the Circle of Life, this book addresses the path of life, with just as much beauty and inspiration as the song itself.

2. “I Just Can’t Wait to be King” – CURSED by Thomas Wheeler and Frank Miller

In this exciting retelling of the Legend of Arthur and the Sword in the Stone, there are tales of Kings and Queens from past and future. Packed with action and magic, there is no better book to read if you love the ambitious and colorful ambiance of I Just Can’t Wait to be King.

3. “Be Prepared” – Winterwood by Shea Ernshaw

Sharing the same ominous yet enticing aura with Be Prepared, Winterwood is sure to be the best read for your taste. A dark and witchy tale, this book takes you deep into the haunted woods that everyone in the nearby town fears. If you’re looking for Scar vibes, you just found them.

4. “Hakuna Matata” – She’s The Worst by Lauren Spieller

I know this doesn’t sound like the most carefree of books, but in reality, neither is Hakuna Matata. This book is all about the blissful adventures of two girls running around Los Angeles to avoid family drama, and, hey, isn’t that what Simba is doing during Hakuna Matata? If you want to run away from your own problems with a good book, say Hakuna Matata, and pick this one up!

5. “We Are One” – Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz

We are one is all about the meaning of life. What better book to match with that theme than Ari and Dante? A classic tale filled with passion and discovery, this book beautifully parallels the message of the song in a way that is sure to give you the same and warm and fuzzy feeling inside as We are one.

6. “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” – Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett

If you’ve read this book and you didn’t see this coming, then it’s time for a re-read. Two estranged best friends fall in love during a camping trip through the woods. Sound familiar? Because it is! If you love the romance and the wilderness of Can you feel the love tonight, then this has to be your next read.

7. “Love Will Find a Way” – Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Forbidden love. We all relish in it. In this Shadowhunters novel, we get one of the greatest forbidden loves the YA Fantasy community has ever seen. It’s so forbidden that it almost rips the world apart, literally. But Emma and Julian just can’t stay apart, just like Kiara and Kovu.

8. “Shadowland” – SLAY by Brittney Morris

This fierce read has all the heart and conflict of Shadowland. Fighting not only for the love of who she is, but also against a tyrant who wants to take away the safe space she created for so many, a home for those who slay, Kiera has to step out of her anonymity to save the world she loves, just as Nala must leave the Pridelands to save the Pridelands.

9. “Endless Night” – Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds

Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds

Dealing with loss, searching for answers, beautiful verse, intense emotion…this book is the perfect match for Endless night. In the brilliant and lyrical story of one child’s elevator ride, the book addresses as complex and poignant of topics as Endless night does over the course of one song.

10. “He Lives in You” – A Heart in a Body in the World by Deb Caletti

This profound story tackles the topic of survivor’s guilt so gracefully that you won’t know whether to cry or cheer or both. I’d go with both. During He lives in you, Simba finally faces his own survivor’s guilt, and the song has grown to become a fan favorite, met with awe and inspiring all. A Heart in a Body in the World achieves the same level of inspiration and hopefulness, and should definitely be your go-to next pick.

11. “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” – To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

I had to end on a crowd favorite. The lion sleeps tonight is a fun and bouncy tale that has been a classic tune for many years before it was featured in the Lion King. I’m pairing this song with another crowd favorite, To all the boys, also a fun-filled, light-hearted tale. It’s a match as compatible as Donald Glover and Beyoncé.
